What does sustainability really mean?

Sustainability is becoming increasingly important in the public con-sciousness and even more decisive in driving purchasing
decisions. Here at uma, this means that, for everything that we do today, we think about how it impacts on the future.
It means that we recycle plastic bottles into ballpoint pens and that we don‘t cut down more trees than can be planted.

Holz / Wood

Für die uma Schreibgeräte aus Holz wird ausschließlich deutsches PEFC-und FSC®-zertifizier-
tes Buchenholz verwendet. Durch spezielle Bearbeitung des nachwachsenden Rohstoffs
transportiert das Naturprodukt Ihre Werbebotschaft edel und formschön zum Kunden.
Der Naturstoff Holz variiert sowohl in der Farbigkeit des Holzes als auch in der Struktur (Maserung).

Only german PEFC and FSC® certified beechwood is used for the uma writing utensils made of wood. Through special
processing of the sustainable raw material, the natural product transports its advertising message in a refined and beautiful
design to the customer. Wood is a natural material with a great variety of colours and textures (grain effect).

Cellulose / Cellulose acetate

Der aus der Natur gewonnene Rohstoff kann dieser ebenfalls wieder zugeführt werden. Das
Celluloseacetat entspricht der DIN EN 13432:2000-12 / Zertifizierungsprogramm für Produkte
aus kompostierbaren Werkstoffen. Die hierfür notwendige Cellulose wird aus europäischen
Weichhölzern gewonnen.
NATURAL MATERIALS
The raw material gained from nature can also be returned to nature. The cellulose acetate complies with DIN EN 13432:2000-12 /
certification program for products from compostable materials. The cellulose required for this is gained from European softwoods.

recycelter Karton / recycled Cardboard

Die Verwendung von bereits recycelter Kartonage bietet eine stabile und zugleich umweltverträgliche Grundlage für
die Herstellung von Schreibgeräten. Das Material kann dem Recyclingprozess wieder zugeführt werden und trägt so zur NATUR-MATERIALIEN
Umweltschonung bei. Die Verwendung dieser besonderen Materialien unterliegt produktionstechnischen Schwankungen.
Leichte Unterschiede in Farbe und Oberfläche sind daher möglich.

The use of cardboard that has already been recycled offers a stable and at the same time environmentally friendly basis
for the production of writing utensils. The material can be returned to the recycling process again, thus contributing to help-
ing the environment. The use of these special materials is subject to fluctuations in the production technology. As a result,
slight differences in colour and surface are possible.
